Diazamed Inc. is a privately held biotechnology company located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Diazamed was founded in January 2010. The early-stage biotechnology company has an exclusive agreement to license the technology for the development of medical device coatings to prevent blood clotting and biofouling.

Clotting and biofouling of cardiovascular implants continues to lead to device failure and complication in patients. Preventing these complications and failures in medical devices is highly desirable both in terms of clinical need and marketability. The market for improved implantable medical devices is estimated at over $100 billion dollars annually.

Diazamed is building a strong translational research program for accelerating the time to market for biocompatible coatings. These efforts focus on connecting two strategic outcomes for biomaterials development:

1. Enhanced biostability and efficacy of therapeutic devices
2. Properties of novel coatings and materials that are economically and physically suited to manufacturing, handling, and storage of medical devices
